If you ever felt like someone doesn’t like you even when they have not said anything bad to you, then this article is for you.

In today’s article, we will be discussing 13 signs that someone secretly hates you. Make sure to look out for number 11 since it is one of the most useful signs that will help you find out if someone secretly hates you especially in this online world.

So here are the 13 signs someone secretly hates you…

1. They don’t offer you a sincere smile.

We subconsciously smile when we see a person or something we like, right? And let me tell you that you cannot fake a sincere smile. In fact, researchers have found that fake smiles are accomplished by using completely different muscles than real smiles. So, which muscles do we use in a real smile? Well, a real smile causes you to use the muscles around the eyes known as orbicularis oculi. On the other hand, when a person is faking a smile, these muscles don’t even engage. So, if you notice a person faking a smile when they see you, it could be a sign that they don’t like you.

Of course, a fake smile can most likely mean someone has no feelings towards you and is just being friendly.

2. They don’t mirror you.

Let me tell you that we usually mimic the body language of a person we like, and sometimes, we even mimic their tone of voice. Mirroring usually starts from your heart. Why? Because you have cellular memories that tell you what kind of people you can trust. When a person is mirroring your hand position, attitude, or your voice tone, it indicates that they like you. Studies have also found that women are more likely to mirror other women if they like them.

3. They avoid looking you in the eyes.

When a person avoids looking you in the eyes, this means that they are trying to hide something. Sometimes, that ‘something’ is that they don’t want to be around you and they don’t like you very much. In fact, it can sometimes indicate that they don’t even want to be friends with you. When experts observed the interactions between friends and lovers, they found that eye contact reveals how a person truly feels about their friend or lover. Experts say that this might be due to the fact that there are more neurons dedicated to our eyes than any of the other four senses. These neurons reflect what the eyes are taking in and when you like someone, you will make more eye contact.

4. Intense eye contact.

While a person avoids making eye contact if they don’t like you, if you feel that the person is forcing themselves to maintain eye contact with you, it could indicate that they hate you. Sometimes, people know that avoiding eye contact would be too obvious to show that they don’t like someone, and they may overcompensate with intense eye contact.

5. Their conversations seem fake.

Do you think that a person is constantly nodding along to whatever you say to avoid being seen as rude? This indicates that they are trying to fake being friendly with you while they may even chuckle. When a person doesn’t like you, they don’t pay attention to your conversation and you can feel their conversation with you is fake. In fact, they don’t appear to be actually engaged in the conversation.

6. They are to the point.

If you have noticed that a person is responding to your questions with short and cold statements, this means that they are not interested. You might feel like they don’t want to talk further. Usually, they would answer your questions with yes or no. The avoidance of that person to share and elaborate on their answers might be a subtle way of telling you that they dislike you and don’t trust you.

7. Things feel awkward.

A person would sometimes feel awkward around someone they are not vibing with. Maybe you just feel weird being around a person, and if things are weird, you might want to find someone to hang with that makes the hours pass like minutes.

8. There is little or no touch.

Let me tell you that it does not matter whether we are talking about a love interest or a platonic relationship, people touch you when they are interested in you. When a person likes you and is interested in being around you, they will not feel uncomfortable touching you. For instance, Bonobo monkeys touch each other constantly as a way to maintain social stability. Although humans are a little more reserved, they also touch each other when they want to maintain a relationship.

9. They never make plans with you.

Of course, if someone is your friend, they would often make plans with you. So, if you notice that you are the only one who makes plans with the other person every time, and they don’t even reciprocate, this could indicate that they don’t actually want to hang out with you. You need to understand that a true friendship or a sincere romantic relationship is about 50-50. Even if one person loves to go out and the other person likes to stay at home, they would still invite you to either paint the town red with them or watch Netflix with them. In simple words, when a person likes you, they would want to spend more time with you.

10. They never listen.

Your true friends value your thoughts, emotions, ideas, and feelings. They would often ask you what you think and they truly listen. For instance, if you are a girl and a boy likes you, he will remember the small things you told him for months or even years. So, if you notice that a person is constantly talking only to elevate themselves and they never listen to you or ask what you think, then run away. They are not actually your true friend.

11. They respond with just emojis.

Today, we are living in a digital world where we communicate in entirely new and different ways. We usually communicate with our friends via Instagram, Messenger, or Snapchat, etc. The next time you are chatting with a person and you notice that they are only sending you smiley faces or sad faces to communicate, then they might not be interested in talking with you. Think about it! How much time does it take to type a full sentence? If a person can’t even type a text message, how can you say that they like you? Maybe it is time to look for some new friends who would have more time to invest in you.

12. Their body language is not open.

The key to finding out if someone doesn’t like is to notice their body language. Open body language indicates that a person wants to accept you and likes you. When a person likes you, they are open to letting you into their lives. And when a person is exhibiting closed-off body language, it indicates that they don’t want to accept you. This could include crossed arms, leaning back from you, crossed legs, or sitting as far away from you as they can. Sometimes, they even try to avoid you at all costs. So, if you notice negative or closed body posture, it means that they don’t want to be around you.

13.   You feel it in your gut.

Let me tell you that your instincts about a person are correct more often than you give yourself credit for. Sometimes, you might see that a person is making eye contact, they are polite, and their smile seems genuine, but you might just feel like something is wrong in your gut.
